Starting from small beginnings, Stephan Olivier began Tala Solar in 2013, selling and installing solar pumps. He began building a substantial customer base especially with the farming community, and in 2015 he slowly began to venture into the residential market. Today, Tala Solar designs and installs all sizes residential and commercial solar systems.
Getting customers off the grid
Focussed on the farming community, Stephan and his team sells and installs solar pumps and solar pump inverters, especially where irrigation is pivotal. The unreliable and costly electricity in South Africa, poses a great need for an alternative electricity supply and it is essential for the farming community to go off the grid. Tala Solar contributes to fulfil the need.
Tala Solar has completed their first Agri-Plant installation in 2022; 300kW off-grid system using:
- 846 x 640W Canadian solar panels
- 2 x 150kW Atess inverters
- 2 x 160kW Freedom Won batteries
They also completed their biggest residential system to date; 36kW off-grid system with:
- 72 x 460W Canadian Solar panels
- 3 x 12kW SunSynk inverters
- 5 x 14kW SolarMD batteries
